On the night of Friday, July 21, 2023, at around nine o’clock, the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call regarding a domestic dispute at a home situated on Highway 183 between Cisco and Rising Star. Deputy David Bosecker was the first officer to reach the scene. Tragically, he was immediately met with gunfire from the suspect involved in the dispute. Despite efforts to save him, Deputy Bosecker succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, identified as Cody Douglas Pritchard, has been arrested and taken into custody at Stephens County Jail. He faces charges of Capital Murder of a Peace Officer, reflecting the severity of the alleged crime. As of now, no bond has been established for his release. The investigation is actively underway, and it is being spearheaded by the Texas Rangers, who are working diligently to gather all the facts and evidence related to the case.
