Missy Hyatt was a manager like many others in professional wrestling. The stunning blonde was undoubtedly hired for her looks, and drew a lot of eyes when she escorted any wrestler down to the ring. Like many other valets and managers, Hyatt also got her start in professional wrestling alongside her boyfriend, John Tatum.
Hyatt would escort Tatum to the ring when he wrestled for the Von Erich family promotion World Class Championship Wrestling. Hyatt would go on to work for WWE, WCW, and ECW, before retiring from professional wrestling in 2016. In 2021, Hyatt returned to the ring to team with Brian Myers to take on Rachael Ellering and Tommy Dreamer.
In 1991, Hyatt would manage PN News in WCW. At the time, Hyatt was involved in a feud with fellow manager Paul E. Dangerously and his stable the Dangerous alliance.
Hyatt and PN News would face off against various members of the Dangerous Alliance including the One Man Gang, Arn Anderson, and Terry Taylor. It was a pretty underwhelming association from start to finish, as it did nothing for either person in the long run.
John Tatum was the one that got Missy Hyatt started in professional wrestling. Hyatt and Tatum were dating while the latter was wrestling in Houston-based promotion World Class Championship Wrestling. Tatum and Hyatt would also work together for the Universal Wrestling Federation.
Tatum and Hyatt would pair together in the ring for mixed tag team action. However, Hyatt and Tatum would lose the overwhelming majority of their matches, including back-to-back losses to fellow manager Sunshine in mud wrestling matches.
In 1987 Hyatt would marry Eddie Gilbert, another professional wrestler, who also wrestled for Universal Wrestling Federation. Gilbert would defeat Savannah Jack to win the UWF Television Title the same year, and successfully defend the title against Sting, Shane Douglas, and Kendall Windham.
Hyatt and Gilbert would split in 1989, a mere two years after they were married. At the time, Hyatt and Gilbert were both working for World Championship Wrestling. While Gilbert left WCW in 1989, Hyatt stayed on to manage other wrestlers.
The Barbarian wrestled from the 1980s to the 2000s where he made appearances for WCW and WCW. In WWE, he was a part of the Powers of Pain stable alongside the Warlord before joining Bobby Heenan's stable called The Heenan Family.
In 1993, The Barbarian was briefly managed by Missy Hyatt, while she was still trying to recruit Ric Flair. After finishing up with the Barbarian, Hyatt would begin to accompany The Nasty Boys to the ring.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Lance Storm was one of many wrestlers that managed to make appearances wrestling for ECW, WCW, and WWE. Storm was trained alongside the likes of Chris Jericho in the Hart Brother's Wrestling school.
In 2016, Lance Storm would wrestle against Matt Hardy at WrestleCon. While Matt Hardy would be accompanied to the ring by his wife, Reby Hardy, Storm would accompanied by Missy Hyatt. This would be Storm's last match, and Hyatt's last wrestling event for 5 years, prior to teaming with Brian Myers at Impact's Homecoming event.
The Nasty Boys, a tag team made up of Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags, were a prolific tag team that wrestled in WCW and WWE over the course of their career. The duo held the WCW Tag Team Titles three times and the WWE Tag Team Titles once during their runs with both companies.
After a brief stint in WWE in the early 90s, The Nasty Boys returned to WCW in 1993. During their second run with the promotion, the duo was managed by Missy Hyatt and would go on to defeat Arn Anderson and Paul Roma to win the WCW Tag Team Titles.
The Steiners are considered one of the best tag teams of all time, having held titles in WCW, WWE, and NJPW. Scott Steiner would also go on to hold the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
In their early WCW careers, the Steiner were often accompanied to the ring by Missy Hyatt. Hyatt would manage the Steiner Brothers to their first tag team titles, where they defeated the Fabulous Freebirds. During this time, Hyatt also was involved in a feud against Woman, who also managed The Steiner Brothers as Robin Green.
At one time of his career, Shane Douglas was viewed as a main event talent in professional wrestling. In 1994, Douglas would win a tournament to become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion before cutting a promo heavily criticizing the NWA.
Douglas had previously met Hyatt in the 1980s while they were working together in the Universal Wrestling Federation. Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert reportedly gave Douglas his iconic ring-name while they were working together. Hyatt managed Douglas on one occasion, during a pilot for World Wrestling Network.
Towards the end of her run in Extreme Championship Wrestling, Missy Hyatt would manage and wrestle alongside hardcore legend Sandman. Hyatt was at ringside during Sandman's matches against Stevie Richards and Raven during her time with the promotion.
The Sandman was also involved in Hyatt's only in-ring contest in an intergender tag team match against Raven and The Sandman's wife Lori Fullington.
Ric Flair is considered one of the best wrestlers to lace up a pair of boots. In his prime, Flair held world titles for the NWA and WWE and was routinely one of the best workers and talkers in the business.
Hyatt tried to recruit Flair in 1993 after he had returned to WCW, after a brief stint in WWE. Instead, Hyatt would manage the Nasty Boys tag team to win the WCW Tag Team titles from the Four Horsemen.
